CAMP PENDLETON — The Camp Pendleton Fire Department, along with Orange County Fire Authority and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Fire Department, is scheduled to conduct a seasonal hazard reduction burn April 18 through April 22 in the San Mateo area of the base.San Mateo is an isolated area near the Northwest boundary of the base. Communities surrounding the base may notice smoke clouds during the burn.
The purpose of the hazard reduction burn is to reduce fire fuels in training areas Northeast of the San Mateo area to the Camp Pendleton boundary with the Cleveland National Forest.
