Community Center is the hub of activity


RANCHO SANTA FE — Youngsters can enjoy a host of holiday activities at the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center. The registration deadline for camps is Dec. 28.The center will be offering three days of Camp Rancho from Jan. 2 through Jan. 4 during the upcoming holiday break. On Jan. 2, members will be going rock climbing at Vertical Hold in Mira Mesa, on Jan. 3, they will be going ice skating at the rink at University Town Center mall, and on Jan. 4, they will be going to the movies. The camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and cost $85 per day. Extended care is available from 8 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. for $10 per hour. The center will also be offering multi-sport camp plus Cool Creatures, Crafts and Cooking camp.

Two specialty camps are also scheduled from Jan. 2 through Jan. 4. Coach Mike Rausa will be offering his Multi-Sport Camp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on those days with the cost of $165 for all three days or $60 daily. Sports will include basketball, flag football, soccer and ultimate roundball.

Robb Daly will also be offering his Cool Creatures, Crafts and Cooking Camp from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the same days. The cost is $180 for all three days or $65 daily. Meet creatures from salty seas, far forests and distant deserts, splatter paint, work with wood, sculpt metal, blend a smoothie, bake a cake and win prizes. Also, Session 3 is right around the corner, beginning the week of Jan. 28, with a full class schedule. Some of the classes that will be offered include photography, tumbling, video game design, basketball, tennis, Legomation, cheerleading and cooking.

The community is also invited to the Jan. 11 Girl’s Volleyball Tournament.

Join Coach Mike Rausa and his staff for a Friday afternoon of girls volleyball for third- through sixth-grades. The third- and fourth-graders’ game will be from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. and the fifth and sixth graders’ game will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20 per child and $15 for each additional sibling. There will be a round-robin tournament with T-shirts awarded to the winners of each age group.

To help the adults stay fit and busy, there will be adult yoga and Jazzercise classes available at the RSFCC. Jazzercise is Mondays and Wednesdays, and Yoga is Tuesdays and Thursdays. The club offers two new instructors. All adult fitness classes are from 9 to 10 a.m., and cost is $125 for 10 visits or $15 for drop-ins. There will be no adult fitness classes from Dec. 24 to Jan. 4.
