OCEANSIDE — At its Feb. 17 meeting, the MiraCosta College Board of Trustees approved filling the seat to be vacated by Trustee Judy Strattan through provisional appointment.
Strattan submitted her resignation to the board effective March 31, citing her plans to purchase a home outside the college district, which will make her ineligible to serve on the board. The appointee will complete Strattan’s term, which expires in 2010, at which time the seat will be up for election.
Those interested in applying for the seat must reside in Trustee Area 7, the northeast part of Oceanside and portions of Camp Pendleton. A map and descriptions of the trustee area boundaries are available on the college Web site at www.miracosta.edu/govboard, by clicking on “Trustee Areas.” Applicants are asked to submit a résumé of their experience and education, and a letter explaining their interest in serving on MiraCosta College’s Board of Trustees. The letter and résumé should be submitted by e-mail to Evelyn Dalby, board secretary at email@example.com or mailed to her attention at MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA, 92056.
Applications may also be delivered in person to the Administration Building (Building 1000) on the Oceanside Campus. The deadline for applying is March 6. The new trustee will be sworn in no later than April 6.
The Board of Trustees meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month and trustees also are required to attend special meetings, conferences and other activities. Trustees receive a monthly stipend of $306.31 as well as the health benefits package provided to college employees. For additional information, contact Evelyn Dalby at (760) 795-6610.
