Club announces new childhood fitness program

VISTA — The Boys & Girls Club of Vista announced the start of a new daily fitness program, Project FUN, or Fitness, Nutrition & Understanding. The program is designed to reduce childhood obesity and increase nutritional awareness in a positive environment.
Project FUN shows Boys & Girls Club kids how eating right, keeping fit and forming positive relationships equate to a healthy lifestyle for club members. Boys & Girls Club professionals, volunteers, and licensed nutritional consultants from Tri-City Hospital and Scripps Hospital help boys and girls ages 6 to 18 learn about healthy nutrition and how to stay active.
Current classes serve approximately 85 kids a day. Activities include create a sport, cooking classes, and game room Olympics. The Boys & Girls Club of Vista is looking for additional volunteers to support this fledgling program.
