SAN MARCOS — The city of San Marcos announces the opening of Civic Center Park at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 22. This one-acre park is located adjacent to the Community Center at 3 Civic Center Drive.
The original park was demolished and closed in 2005 to make way for the construction of the North County Transit District Sprinter line Cal State San Marcos connection. Amenities in the new park include lighted half court basketball, sand volleyball, play equipment and picnic areas. The Rail Trail also runs through the park, which will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call (760) 744-9000 to learn more.
