It’s hard to believe that the home of the Del Mar Fairgrounds is actually the smallest city in San Diego. Doing a little free association, the name Del Mar conjures up images of carnival rides and cotton candy, thoroughbreds and beautiful beaches and the world-class Torrey Pines Golf Course.“Where the surf meets the turf” is the tagline for the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club’s annual meet. But for the rest of the year for residents, it’s just called home. Some amazing chefs slice, dice and sauté in the city’s fine dining establishments.
