Church offers garden plots, hosts rummage sale

OCEANSIDE — As spring approaches, thoughts turn to gardens, planting and spring cleaning. The North Coast United Methodist Church, 1501 Kelly St., still has individual garden plots available for rent to local residents and groups. The organic Kelly Street Cooperative Garden was established in 2011. This community organic garden offers local groups and individuals the opportunity to rent garden plots at minimal cost and to raise their own plants, flowers and vegetables. Members in the garden maintain their plot along with helping to bring a community plot in the center of the project to harvest, which will benefit a local food pantry.

Spring is also a great time for cleaning out closets and garages and finding places to donate items to worthy causes like the United Methodist Women’s Spring Rummage Sale starting at 8 a.m., March 2. North Coast United Methodist Church is collecting donations now Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All money raised will go to missions. Items left over will be donated to charity.

“The garden and rummage sale are not just church projects,” said pastor Cindy Arntson, “It’s a way of giving back to our community in Oceanside.” For more information, contact North Coast United Methodist Church at (760) 439-4099 or visit
