Church hosts shredding event

CARLSBAD — St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church will hold a document and electronics shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 10 in the lower parking lot at 6628 Santa Isabel, on the corner of Alga Road and El Fuerte Street in Carlsbad.Proshred will destroy old tax returns and any other confidential documents onsite. The cost is $5 per copy box full of personal papers, $10 to destroy a hard drive removed from the computer and $5 for anything with a plug or battery.

All electronics except large items such as clothes washers, dryers and refrigerators will be accepted. Acceptable items include toasters, hair dryers, vacuums, computers and monitors, old cell phones, etc. Rechargeable and car batteries are OK. Alkaline batteries (A, AA, AAA, C, D and 9-volt) cannot be accepted.

Proceeds will benefit St. Elizabeth Seton’s new parish center. In addition to helping a good cause, the fundraiser is good for the environment and can help avoid identity theft.
