Celebration planned for San Diego Regional Center

SAN MARCOS — The San Diego Regional Center North County Office will hold the first in a series of 40 Year Celebrations planned throughout the year. The next celebration will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. April 23 at the San Diego Regional Center San Marcos Office, at 1370 W. San Marcos Blvd.
Individuals with developmental disabilities will be joined by friends and family to recognize the community partnerships that has enabled San Diego Regional Center to serve these individuals and their families for 40 years.
San Diego Regional Center is a nonprofit organization that operates under contract with the State Department of Developmental Services. The San Diego Regional Center began operating in 1969 under the auspices of the Children’s Hospital and Health Center serving 891 persons with mental retardation. Today, San Diego Regional Center serves more than 18,000 individuals with developmental disabilities including mental retardation, cerebral palsy, autism and epilepsy in San Diego and Imperial counties.
