Carlsbad resident passes away

CARLSBAD — Catherine Laura LeBlanc, a resident of Carlsbad, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 28, after a long illness.
She was surrounded by friends and family. There were no services per her request.
A mass was said in her honor at St. John’s Catholic Church in Encinitas. Catherine is survived by her immediate family including her daughter, Sydney LeBlanc, and her sons Robert and Paul LeBlanc.
Catherine was born in New Orleans, La., on July 13, 1923, to Edwina and William McNeil.
She married Sidney Bruno at age 22. Tragically, he was killed in an airplane accident two years later. She remarried in 1951 to Robert LeBlanc of New Orleans and, subsequently, they moved to Memphis, Tenn., when his job was transferred. He predeceased her in 1961.
A homemaker, she was a strong and determined woman who raised three children on her own. She loved dancing at the local VFW in Memphis, handwriting analysis, crossword puzzles, and being with her friends and family. Upon a sudden illness, Catherine moved to Carlsbad in 2006 to live with her daughter.
Condolences can be sent to The LeBlanc Family, 942 Shore Crest Road, Carlsbad, CA 92011.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), PO Box 0965, Wilton, NH, 03085-9905.
