ENCINITAS — Capri Elementary needs the community’s help. Since January, volunteers have raised close to $90,00 in in-kind donations. They sent out just 34 letters in the mail and 150 e-mails to past donors and in return received more than 600 items that are available for purchase online.
They managed to exceed their in-kind donation goal by $30,000. While an amazing feat, they have more items to auction than the school’s approximately 400 families can buy. Up for auction are amazing deals and opportunities for vacations, memorabilia, camps and lessons for kids and more.
They will ship items at buyer’s expense to anywhere in the United States. Money raised will fund Capri’s music and science teachers’ salaries, support their arts programs and help fund the YMCA’s Playground Partners, a program designed to facilitate a better playground experience for kids through organized play.
The auction launched March 19 and will run until 10 p.m. on March 17 at biddingforgood.com/capri.
Tax deduction is made possible by Encinitas Educational Foundation, or EEF. EEF is nonprofit that promotes and supports the children of the Encinitas Union School District.
