CARLSBAD — Carlsbad police are investigating the death of a female transient by unknown circumstances. Officers were contacted at approximately 12:38 p.m. Aug. 11 after a companion of the victim notified authorities that she was found unresponsive.
The companion, a 58-year-old male, told officers he found the female unresponsive around 12:20 p.m., when he returned to the encampment the two shared. The male called authorities from a shopping center near the Carlsbad/Encinitas border and Sheriff’s deputies accompanied him to the location of the victim. At that time, it was determined that it was Carlsbad jurisdiction. The encampment was along the east curb line of El Camino Real, north of the Olivenhain intersection.
Carlsbad police and the Medical Examiner’s office will continue the investigation.
