Best books up for auction

CARLSBAD — The Friends of the Carlsbad City Library Annual Silent Auction will be held July 11 and July 12 in the Gowland Meeting Room at the Carlsbad City Library, 1775 Dove Lane.
The event will offer up for bid an assortment of unusual and sometimes quite valuable books that have been set aside all year for this special event. These includes coffee table books, new and vintage children’s materials, antiquarian titles, sets, cookbooks and more. Some books from the geology library of the late Allan O. Kelly will be available for immediate sale. Each item or group will have its own bid sheet showing a minimum bid and the increment required to raise that bid. At the conclusion of the auction, the last and highest bidder wins the item.
The auction will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 11 and from 1 to 3 p.m. July 12. Bidding ends at 3 p.m. July 12 and successful bidders who are present may purchase their books immediately. Those not present will have a week to claim their books at the Carlsbad City Library Circulation Desk. For more information, call (760) 434-2914.
