CARLSBAD — Aviara Oaks Middle School sixth-grader Kylie Loveland and seventh-grader Avalon Johnson took top honors at the Interscholastic Surfing Foundation Middle School Division. In addition, the Aviara Oaks team received a host of trophies from both the state championships as well as collective finishes for the five previous contests performed in the San Diego Section during the year.
Trophies the team members received included:
— First place/girls shortboard – Kylie Loveland
— Fourth place/girls longboard – Sawyer Gilley
— Sixth place/boys longboard – Josh Collins
The entire girls’ team won the first-place/girls longboard along with a
first place/girls shortboard.
Aviara Oaks then received several more trophies April 25 for both individual and team honors for the state championships, including individual honors for third place/girls shortboard for Kylie Loveland with both a fifth-place/girls Shortboard and fourth-place/girls longboard for Avalon Johnson.
