SAN MARCOS — Residents wishing to be considered for the General Plan Advisory Commission, or GPAC, now have until Oct. 1 to submit their application. The deadline was extended from Sept. 21.
The city of San Marcos has embarked on a two-year process to update its General Plan — the city’s “blueprint” for future development — and wants residents to play a big role in this important process.
One way residents can get involved is by applying to serve on the GPAC. The GPAC will be a 14-member committee appointed by City Council that will help guide new policy development for the General Plan.
Some seats on the GPAC will be dedicated to community stakeholders like the Chamber of Commerce, Cal State San Marcos, Palomar College, the San Marcos Economic Development Corporation and the senior citizen community.
The remainder of the GPAC will include eight members from the community-at-large to represent each of the city’s neighborhoods.
Residents interested in becoming involved with the San Marcos General Plan are encouraged to apply for a seat on the GPAC. Applications are due Oct. 1 and appointments to the GPAC will take place on Oct. 13.
