Oceanside Museum hosts family art day

OCEANSIDE — Families had hands-on fun at the Oceanside Museum of Art Free Family Art Day Oct. 2. Participants bedazzeled paper bags, socks and foam balls with colorful fabric, beads, and pipe cleaners to create character puppets.
The art project related to the “It’s Not My Fault: The Art of Everett Peck” exhibit.
A kid-friendly docent tour explained how renowned illustrator and animator Everett Peck created his characters from concept sketch to completed animation.
The family day helped children understand art through viewing it and creating it.
“Kids have the opportunity to experience what they’re looking at with their parents,” said Bonilla Martinez, museum director of community relations. “They can process their responses through the activity by making art together.”
“It’s Not My Fault: The Art of Everett Peck” is on exhibit through Jan. 29.
The Oceanside Museum of Art is at 704 Pier View Way.
