Crash sparks wild fire

CAMP PENDLETON — A wild fire was started at approximately 1 p.m. Sept. 19 as a result of a helicopter crash.
The fire was located in the southeast portion of the base near the border with De Luz and was moving northeast.
The Camp Pendleton Fire Department was on scene, along with multiple mutual aid assets.
Fire fighting assets include four air tankers, four helicopters tankers, three type-3 strike teams, four hand crews, and one forward air control aircraft.
