Student hosts benefit fashion show

CARLSBAD — Planning is under way for a double-benefit fashion show at La Costa Canyon High School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 25 at the La Costa Canyon Campus Student Center.
LCCHS junior Monica Vejar, joined by Transitional Alternative Program teacher Elizabeth Engleberg, are putting on a fashion show joined by the special needs students at La Costa Canyon.
“Everyone deserves a chance to walk down the runway and know how it feels to shine,” Vejar said.
This year’s models will be Heather McEldowny, Katie Flores, Sammy Anguiano, Alex Worley, Sarah Bullen, Dillon Linkenhile, Thomas Miller, Ryan Wilson, Julie Brown and Aly Hays. During the first half of the evening, the students will be modeling clothes of their own choosing that classify their style. For the second half, they will be wearing prom attire.
Vejar was inspired to put together this special show, called It’s Good to Be Me Fashion Show, after looking for an original way to give back to the community.
“I hope it becomes a yearly tradition,” she said.
In addition to the fashions, baked goods and pizza will be offered for sale at intermission. All the money earned will be donated to the Japan Relief Fund.
