Autopsy on murdered teen released

OCEANSIDE — The two teenagers found murdered at a park on May 3 have been identified, and an autopsy report on one of them confirms the teen was shot to death.
The bodies of Fernando Felix Solano, 16, and Sandra Salgado, 14, both of Oceanside, were both found on a hillside, at the end of Libby Lake Park near Casa Drive in an area in Oceanside referred to as the “back gate” because of its location to an entrance to Camp Pendleton, according to authorities.
The suspect or suspects have not been identified, and detectives have so far been unable to establish a motive, according to acting Oceanside police Capt. Leonard Mata.
When police responded to calls at about 10:30 p.m. for gunshots heard in the area, they found the bodies of the teens.
Sandra died at 10:30 p.m. May 3 from gunshot wounds to her torso, according to the county’s medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy on Fernando is pending.
A memorial video online shows a picture of the teenagers together, and reports also said they were dating.
According to reports, Mata said Fernando was not involved in a gang, but it is unclear if the shooting had involved a gang.
The Oceanside Police Department has set up a tip line for the public, where information on the case can be reported anonymously at (760) 435-4910.
Mata said it is a recorded line that can be accessed 24 hours daily.
San Diego County Crime Stoppers also has a number for anyone with any information, at (888) 580-8477 and is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
