Tri-City foundation welcomes new board members

OCEANSIDE — As part of its mission to strengthen its governance and increase its visibility in the community, the Tri-City Hospital Foundation has almost tripled the size of its board of trustees by adding 17 new community members.
The new members include Tracy Carmichael, community leader; Kevin Crawford, chief, Carlsbad Fire Department; Chris Day, Swinerton Management & Consulting; Ramona Finnila, former Carlsbad council member; Rita Geldert, city manager, Vista; Steve Gronke, teacher and Vista councilman; Dawn Hall, Cauthen, Procopio, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP; Frank Hutchins, vice president, California Bank & Trust; Rich Landreth, principal, Landreth Development & Consulting; Michael McBrayer, senior vice-president and Global Business & Professional Relations, DJO Incorporated; Julie Nygaard, former Carlsbad councilwoman; Ted Owen, chief executive officer, Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce; Liz Perez-Halperin, president, GC Green; Neal Stehly, vice-president Benefits Division, Marrs Maddocks & Associates Insurance Services, Inc.; Bret Schanzenbach, chief executive officer, Vista Chamber of Commerce; Kevin Stotmeister, president/ chief executive officer, Heath Sign Company, LLC; and Tory Walker, president, Tory R. Walker Engineering, Inc.
“We’re going vertical, bringing in new leadership and business initiatives,” said Tobi C. Ferguson, the foundation’s CEO.
Immediate goals for the board include reinvesting in critical hospital services and facilities (and adding new ones), conducting aggressive public outreach to customers and exploring community needs in Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista. The new members will actively engage the community to promote philanthropic support of Tri-City Medical Center. Tri-City serves Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.
The Tri-City Medical Center Foundation is a link between the community and the hospital. Since its creation in 1964, the foundation has raised more than $39 million. Many of the hospital’s most mission-critical facilities have been supported in whole or part by foundation initiatives.
