Students offer community service at gardens

VISTA — Alta Vista Gardens was the beneficiary of more than 30 community service hours on March 24 when Rancho Minerva Middle School students worked to help prepare the gardens for the Earth Day Festival on April 23.
Teacher Dianne Barton and PASS advisor Tristan Gale brought the students for a chance to pull a couple big piles of weeds and then tour the gardens.
Barton’s class also toured two years ago and were amazed at the plantings, sculptures and trails that have been added and restored.
The students were able to spot a red-eared slider in the pond that they rescued last year and were allowed to bring to the gardens.
