Encinitas DAR set for state conference

ENCINITAS — Adele Lancaster, Donna Pinckney, Linda Ramos, Wanda Prosser and Diana Cook will represent the Santa Margarita Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, at the 103rd California DAR State Conference to be held March 17 through March 20 at the Irvine Marriott.
California DAR State Regent Karon Jarrard will preside. Honorary President General Linda Gist Calvin will be the keynote speaker opening night. Among the highlights of the evening will be the presentation of the prestigious DAR Medal of Honor to Mike Conklin, chairman and chief executive officer of the Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Foundation; fifth- through eighth-grade American History Essay contest winners; ninth-grade Christopher Columbus Essay winner; 12th-grade DAR Good Citizen Award; Outstanding Teacher of American History and the Community Service Award.
The DAR is open to any female 18 years of age or older who is a direct descendant of a patriot who contributed in some way to the colonists fight for independence in the Revolutionary War. Contact Linda at lramos1999@aol.com.
