Egyptian president steps down

CNN reports that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has stepped down. His three-decades of rule ended Feb. 11 following an 18-day revolution.
The resignation was announced by Vice President Omar Suleiman on state television.
The streets of Cairo erupted in deafening cheers as chants of “Egypt is free!” and “God is great” could be heard.
A source reported to CNN that Mubarak fled to the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh.
