Youngsters to present ‘Rock Series 2011’

SAN MARCOS — Conservatory for Music Arts, a community-based studio from San Marcos, will present “Rock Series 2011” a concert of 12- to 17-year-olds playing rock at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at Sunshine Brooks Theatre, 217 N. Coast Highway in Oceanside.
Three talented “under 18” bands from CCMA’s Rock Band Workshop program plus a surprise guest will be featured in the program, which includes Birds of Prey, KASL, and TAB. Birds of Prey (consisting of eighth- and ninth-graders) will perform dance rock, metal, and their own originals. KASL (comprised of 13 to 16 year olds) and TAB (16 to 17 year olds) will play rock and originals.
The studio’s primary mission is to foster a love of learning, playing and performing music arts in each student through participation in vocal ensembles, rock bands, and group playing workshops and programs. Rock Band Workshop is a popular and effective tool in creating strong ties within a team of a band.
