TV show films at local retirement community

CARLSBAD — The seniors at La Costa Glen Carlsbad offered up a lifetime of advice to newlywed couples in the ABC series, “Here Come The Newlyweds,” as part of the season finale set to air July 13.
The show featured nine couples, given a chance to win a “life-changing” cash prize. The couples participated in an open forum in the community’s Catalina Hall during which the seniors asked them a battery of questions.
“The La Costa Glen residents really took this seriously and came up with some very profound questions based on their own experiences,” Producer Shauna Thomas said. “We had a lot of fun with them, and we actually learned a lot.”
Thomas said that La Costa Glen was selected as the site of the final episode because “seniors are uniquely qualified to offer their insights and perspective on what it takes to maintain a happy marriage for the long haul.”
According to Michael O’Connor, director of marketing for La Costa Glen, the community plans to hold a “viewing party” for the finale July 13.
“The residents really enjoyed being a part of the show, and are looking forward to watching the final episode,” O’Connor said. “We all have a new appreciation for what it takes to film a Hollywood production.”
