CARLSBAD — A local man was arrested on Saturday after a standoff with SWAT for threatening his roommate with an assault rifle, according to a Carlsbad Police Department press release.
Louie Duran, 43, was booked into the Vista Detention Center after he and his roommate, whose name was not disclosed, engaged in a fight. According to CPD, Duran allegedly doused his roommate with pepper spray and threatened him with the rifle.
Shortly after, Carlsbad SWAT and the Crisis Negation Team deployed to the scene and were able to apprehend Duran about four hours after the initial call.
Inside the apartment, police found a loaded shotgun and assault rifle. Duran was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, displaying a weapon and assault.
