Suspected human bone found at Carlsbad beach

CARLSBAD — A possible human leg bone was discovered at a Carlsbad beach early today.

According to the Carlsbad Police Department, a man reported the suspected bone at 3:27 a.m. about 70 yards south of the 3000 block of the Ocean Street beach access stairwell.

The man was riding his bicycle on the beach when he notice a black rubber boot in the water. Upon retrieving the boot, the unidentified man found the bone inside.

CPD was dispatched to the scene and contacted the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, who transported the suspected bone to their office for testing.

Officers searched the beach but were unable to locate any other bones or related items. At daylight, officers conducted an additional search of the beach with assistance from an Oceanside Harbor Patrol boat unit.

The investigation is ongoing.

We weren’t in even a first quarter moon, yet someone was able to spot a BLACK boot in the surf at 3AM more than a hundred feet away ?
Did they have night googles on ?
