ESCONDIDO — “Ghostbuster” actor, singer, writer and “Saturday Night Live” icon Dan Aykroyd will be appearing from 3 to 6 p.m. May 22 at Holiday Wine Cellar at 302 W. Mission Ave. just north of Lake Hodges in Escondido, to promote Crystal Head vodka and autograph bottles. Aykroyd’s longtime fascination with the supernatural led him to create Crystal Head Vodka.
“In our 44 years of operation, we haven’t seen this kind of building excitement for an event,” store manager James Howell said. “Holiday Wine Cellar is very pleased that Dan Aykroyd is supporting his vodka brand by hosting this special event at our store.”
Crystal Head Vodka is “Pure Spirit,” containing no additives like glycerin, citrus oil or sugar. The vodka is distilled four times, and is filtered through polished crystals known as Herkimer diamonds. The water for the spirit comes from a deep aquifer in Newfoundland, Canada.
The design of the Crystal Head bottle is based on the legend of 13 quartz crystal skulls believed to be unearthed from locations world-wide. Each of the skull shapes are said to be made from a single piece of quartz that scientists say would have taken several hundred years to create. These crystal heads, of which only seven are currently accounted for, are said to project positive energy, goodwill and prosperity.
