VISTA — The city of Vista is calling all artists to submit their original interpretation of kites for the third exhibit of Kites Over Vista to be showcased downtown. The Public Arts Commission will select eight artworks through a juried competition. The winning sculptures will be on display for 12 months starting May 2010. Artists are encouraged to be creative and depict kites of all shapes, styles and sizes. Artists will be compensated through a $1,250 honorarium or design fee. Artists loan the city their artwork for the term of one year. The sculpture remains the property of the artist and can be sold and removed after the loan period has ended. The artist retains all proceeds from the sale. Interested artists are asked to submit a 3-D model and application materials no later than 5 p.m. Nov. 23. Winning sculptures will be announced Dec. 9. Call the city of Vista at (760) 639-6151 to learn more.
