OCEANSIDE — The weeklong Samoan Cultural Festival filled with sports competitions and family fun closed with traditional dance and music at the Pier Amphitheater July 9.
The closing celebration followed a morning Christian outreach rally. In the afternoon there were awards for youth and adult softball tournaments, volleyball tournaments and basketball competitions held earlier in the week. Recognition was also given to local high school students who excelled in academics.
Between awards presentations bands and dance groups entertained the crowd with traditional Samoan song and dance. The closing ceremony lasted into the early evening.
