Police seek public’s help in Carlsbad stabbing

CARLSBAD — Police are seeking information after responding to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon on Nov. 7 just after 7 p.m. at 7110 Avenida Encinas. 

The assault occurred near a trash dumpster, when a security guard on patrol confronted a white male adult, approximately 20 to 30 years old.

The suspect revealed a knife and stabbed the security guard in the head.

The guard was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect remains at large and is described as being 6-feet tall with a thin build. He has shoulder length, dark brown hair with an unshaven face or short beard. He was shirtless, wearing dark pants, and white tennis shoes. The suspect also had multiple tattoos on his right arm. He fled the scene on foot and witnesses lost sight of him near Poinsettia and Avenida Encinas.

Police are asking the public to call (760) 931-2136 with any information on the assault.
