Police, FBI investigating bank robberies

CARLSBAD — Just before noon Friday, the Carlsbad Police Department received a telephone call from the U.S. Bank at 7730 El Camino Real near the intersection of El Camino Real and La Costa Avenue advising of a robbery that had just occurred.

Carlsbad Police Officers immediately responded to the area and attempted to locate the suspect.  The suspect was described as a white, male, 40 to 60 years of age, about 5’6” to 5’8”, with a thin build.

The suspect was also described as wearing a baseball cap, black rimmed glasses and a plaid flannel shirt.  The suspect passed a demand note to the bank teller who provided the suspect with an unknown amount of cash.  The suspect fled the bank on foot and no vehicle was seen.  The suspect matches the description of a bank robbery that occurred in Encinitas about 1 hour prior.

The Carlsbad Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating.
