Parenting classes offered by Jewish Family Service

ENCINITAS — Having challenges with your terrible 2-year-old or working to get a child ready to enter kindergarten? Jewish Family Service of San Diego is hosting a free, ongoing Parenting class series at its North County site, 285 N. El Camino Real, Suite 213.Taught in both English and Spanish, the series began the open and ongoing series July 31. On Tuesdays, there will also be daytime classes in Spanish from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a class taught in English from 1 to 2:30 p.m. plus late afternoon classes in English again from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and in Spanish from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The JFS collaborates with Rady Children’s Hospital and First 5 San Diego to provide free parenting classes to parents of children ages newborn to 5. The classes consist of four 1.5-hour classes, with the four sessions focusing on health, family, learning, and community/advocacy. Each class will have “incentives” such as books and toys for the families to take home.

A Rady’s educational specialist administers a developmental screening for any child under 6 years of age, which is a great tool for all children and especially now for preschool graduates to determine kindergarten readiness.
