Classes ongoing at Beth Am Center

CARMEL VALLEY — Congregation Beth Am’s Center for Lifelong Jewish Learning, sponsored by the Mizel Family Foundation, has several classes starting in October.
Basic Judaism I will run from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and is taught by Rabbi David Kornberg.
It covers life cycle events, kashrut, Shabbat and other practical issues of Judaism. It can be taken as part of the conversion requirement or for anyone who wants to expand their Jewish knowledge. This course is underwritten by the Mizel Family Foundation and there is no charge.
Basic Hebrew Reading will be held from 8 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, designed for those who want to learn from the beginning. This course is taught by Judy Sperling. The cost of this class is $50 for member and $55 for nonmembers.
Ongoing classes include Beit Midrash Program, a no-pressure way to get involved with Jewish learning. There is no charge for this weekly class that discusses all aspects of Jewish thought from current events to spiritual feelings and everything in-between.The class is taught by Rabbi Kornberg on Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
Intermediate Conversation Hebrew is taught by Elisheva Edelson on Thursdays at noon. The course is designed for those who have a basic understanding of Hebrew. It is $55 for nonmembers and $50 for members for each 10-week cycle.
Lunch and Learn with Rabbi Earne takes place every Wednesday at noon. Bring a dairy lunch and discuss the week’s parasha. There is no charge for this class.
