Bocce tourney names artist

CARLSBAD — Local artist Greg Cali has created the signature art for Vigilucci’s Beach Bocce Ball World Championship XXIX, to be held July 18 at Dog Beach benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.
“Each year, we select a different artist to come up with a unique piece for the championship,” organizer Brian Cook said. “Greg’s distinctive style lends itself well to this event, and we thank him for the generous donation of his time and talent. The original artwork will be auctioned off the day of the championship with proceeds benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.”
Growing up in Encinitas, Cali found himself interested in art at a very young age. After high school, he studied art formally in San Diego and San Luis Obispo and received his BA from Cal State University Long Beach in 2007. A self-described “creativity addict,” Cali spends much of his free time broadening his skills and techniques and is passionate about involving himself in all types of visual arts including photography, graphic design, apparel design and video production.
Posters showcasing Cali’s art will be placed throughout the North County coastal area. Autographed posters will be available for purchase at the event or by contacting Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.
