DEL MAR — Fergie, one of the most popular pop/R&B acts in the country, will appear at the San Diego County Fair on June 27. Barry Nussbaum, chairman of the 22nd District Agricultural Association’s fair operations committee, mad the announcement during the monthly board of directors meeting April 8.
“I predict tickets will sell out as soon as they are available,” Nussbaum said. There will be an additional charge in addition to the front gate admission ticket for the show. The price scale is now being evaluated.
Directors also approved 11 other grandstand shows to take place during the fair, which runs June 14 through July 6. These include Pato Banton & Mystic Roots Band and Pau Hana, reggae, June 14; Arrolladora Banda El Limon and Rieleros Del Norte, Latin, June 15; Grand Funk Railroad and The Guess Who, classic rock, June 17; Sinbad, comedy, June 18; Huracanes del Norte, Latin, June 22; Byron Cage, gospel, June 28; Intocable & Horoscopes de Durango, Latin, June 29; and Boston, classic rock, July 3.
Previously announced grandstand acts include Steel Pulse, June 14; Earth, Wind & Fire, June 20; Doodlebops, June 21; BB King, June 26; Tye Tribbett, June 28; Weird Al, June 30; Sugarland, July 1; Little Big Town, July 2; and KC & The Sunshine Band July 4.
Most of the grandstand entertainment will be included in the front gate admission ticket, Nussbaum said. He also noted that free entertainment is almost continuous on eight stages located throughout the ground
Mike Treacy, with the California Department of Food & Agriculture, presented the district with two proclamations on behalf of his department and the State Legislature recognizing the district’s immediate and noteworthy response for turning the fairgrounds into an emergency center that created national accolades during last fall’s wildfires.
