CARLSBAD — The public has a chance to see for itself if a picture is worth a thousand words at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery’s new photography exhibit.

In Focus: National Geographic Greatest Portraits, a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian National Museum and National Geographic, will be on display through March 16 at the gallery at the Dove Library in Carlsbad.

The Carlsbad Arts Foundation is able to bring such exhibits to the city thanks to ongoing support that has created the largest endowment for any nonprofit organization in Carlsbad.

Family Open Studios, a monthly event at the gallery that’s designed to bring families together to enjoy art, will feature interactive events focused on the exhibit. Family Open Studios will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb 9.
