The Friends of the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library, together with the Kratzer family, Craig, Pat, Marc and Diane, and library staff put together an early surprise 85th birthday celebration on Tuesday for me and a surprise it was.
I felt as if I was on “This is Your Life,” (you youngsters won’t remember that program) as old friends and family came strolling through the door of the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library Community Room.
I wish to say a heart felt thank you to each and every one who made this such a special event. Too numerous to mention are all the wonderful folk that I have volunteered with through the years but to each of you, thanks for the cards and gifts and most of all for being there.
Thanks to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors for the proclamation presented by Dave Roberts proclaiming March 23 Irene Kratzer day throughout the county of San Diego.
Friends are life’s most precious gift and all of you have touched my life, each in a special way, and know how appreciated and loved you all are.
It was a pleasure to share such a happy event in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, the happy place I call home.
