ENCINITAS — Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a shoplifting case in Encinitas.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 at a Walgreens in the 1300 block of Encinitas Blvd.

The store’s surveillance video shows the man pacing the vitamin aisle and stuffing several cases of vitamins into the pockets of his cargo shorts. He walks out of the store without paying for the items, triggering the security alarms in the front doors. The cashier was helping another customer when the suspect walked out of the store. The loss is estimated at nearly $700.

The suspect is described as a black man standing approximately 6-feet, 6-inches tall, weighing approximately 300 pounds, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue and gray shirt, tan cargo shorts and black and white Converse sneakers.

Anyone with information about the theft or the suspect is urged to contact Detective Jaime Rodriguez at the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station at (760) 966-3500.
