Carpentier Parkway irrigation back online

ENCINITAS — The water is back on along a popular walking parkway in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, community officials said.

As of July 1, irrigation water was again flowing to the landscape along the Carpentier Parkway, a walking path that lines San Elijo Avenue between Chesterfield and Birmingham drives.

Cardiff 101 Main Street, which has maintained the parkway for 15 years, had to discontinue maintenance and watering in March to cut costs.

National City-based Excel Landscape Services repaired the irrigation system, which had been damaged during the period of inactivity, as a donation to the community,

Cardiff 101 officials said in a news release.

Cardiff 101 officials, however, said that someone tampered with the park’s water meter over the weekend, and are urging people to report incidents of tampering immediately to the organization by calling (760) 436-0431.

The association is also accepting donations to help restore, maintain, and improve Carpentier Parkway through its foundation arm, the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Foundation.
