Carlsbad Rotary Oktoberfest nears

CARLSBAD — Brush up on your Chicken dance.  The 32th annual Carlsbad Rotary Oktoberfest, is set from noon to 10 p.m. Oct. 4 at Holiday Park on Chestnut Avenue. It will again offer German food and beer, live music and entertainment for children and adults alike.  The Bluebirds German band, along with the Last Call band will play again this year.

Admission is free. Dinner tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance from any Carlsbad Rotarian, at Tip Top Meats at 6118 Paseo Del Norte in Carlsbad or at Al’s Café in the Village at 795 Carlsbad Village Drive, and at the event. The event features a pumpkin patch where children can decorate pumpkins and compete for prizes. Inflatable jumps, clowns, face painting, antique fire truck, caricaturists, children’s obstacle course, arts and crafts, and more will keep youngsters entertained.

Rotary Club of Carlsbad Oktoberfest Co-chairman John Thill said, “It began in 1982 as a small fundraiser to help the late Glenn McComas, a former Carlsbad City Council member and Rotarian, who became paralyzed. Every year since then, the two Rotary clubs have joined forces to present the event for the benefit of nonprofits and the entire community. Every cent of the net proceeds is given to local non-profit charities and organizations, educational scholarships and other community projects.

Holiday Park is located between Tamarack Avenue and Carlsbad Village Drive off the I-5 Freeway.
