Surfers took advantage of some nice, hurricane-driven waves over the weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a coastal hazard message, warning of large surf, strong rip currents and possible coastal flooding through Thursday, though the effects will mostly be felt in Orange County.
On North County beaches, waves may build to 7 feet. The surf is being generated by Hurricane Marie, which is currently listed as a Category 2, and is several hundred miles off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, according to the National Weather Service. It is expected to weaken over the next few days without directly affecting any land.
