Donations help homeless teens

ENCINITAS — The Homeless Teen Backpack Project, organized by The Encinitas Youth Commission, in partnership with The Encinitas Community Resource Center (CRC), asks the community to support local children who need help.

The groups are asking for donations of gently used or new backpacks, jackets/coats, socks, flip–flops, gift cards, toiletries, school and mailing supplies, or any other donations at several drop-off locations.

Working with the Encinitas CRC, all of the donations will be packaged into the donated backpacks and given to at-risk, homeless teens in the community.

The drop off locations include:

— Encinitas Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas

— Encinitas City Hall, 505 S. Vulcan Ave., Encinitas

— Encinitas fire stations at 415 2nd St., 801 Orpheus Ave., 2011 Village Park Way

and 540 Balour Drive.

— The Encinitas library, 540 Cornish Drive

— The Cardiff library, 2081 Newcastle Ave.
