CARLSBAD — Carlsbad Senior Center offers a variety of classes to stimulate body and mind.Seniors can take part in all levels of Tai-Chi classes for adults 50-plus from Jan. 31 through March 7 at 799 Pine Ave., Suite 200. Beginners are from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., intermediate from 1 to 2 p.m. and advanced 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Fees are $58 for six classes. Drop-in fee for one class is $10.

Intermediate classes are offered on Mondays beginning Feb. 4 from 3 to 4:15 p.m. and advanced classes are offered on Thursdays beginning Feb. 7 from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Four-week sessions are $25 for Carlsbad residents and $35 for non-residents. Drop-in fee for one class is $8.

Seniors looking for fun and fitness can also take Zumba Gold dance classes on Fridays from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. beginning Feb. 1. Songs are choreographed for specific purposes such as warm-up, cardio conditioning, balance and stretching. Fees are $20 for Carlsbad residents and $30 for non-residents for four weeks. Drop-in fee for one class is $7.

Provided by Google as a free download, Mike McMahon will cover the basics of the program and then demonstrate some of the advanced features in the second class. Please bring note-taking material.
