OCEANSIDE — SoCal Volleyball Club has chosen Casa de Amparo to receive donations raised from its fall tryout program.“At SoCal, we try to foster the spirit of community service within our kids, by participating in at least one project that benefits our community each season,” SoCal Director Aimee Asebrook said. “We have teamed up with Casa de Amparo, which provides residentially based services in a safe and nurturing setting, for children who have been removed from their homes as a result of abuse or neglect.
“As an organization that supports the health and well-being of athletes in North County, this or-ganization is near and dear to the heart of our volleyball club,” SoCal Director Scott Philips said.
This fall, SoCal will donate a portion of each registration fee from their regional and national team tryouts. The fund will be used for Casa Kids to participate in a local volleyball program at the club’s location in San Marcos. Funds were raised for several weeks in October and Novem-ber.
In addition to raising funds, the club is hosting a weeklong collection drive for items that encour-age participation in the Casa Kids’ therapeutic programs. Items from children’s DVDs, dolls, and hair accessories to skate magazines, cars and building blocks are on the list.
