Make your front yard edible

DEL MAR — The San Diego Horticultural Society has invited Ivette Soler to share how to transform your front yard into a beautiful and productive landscape.The specialty of this garden designer, blogger, speaker and author is creating edible gardens with curb appeal. Join her from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Surfside Race Place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The cost is $20 and parking is free.

Be the first in your neighborhood to embrace this growing trend toward sustainability without giving up an ounce of design savvy. Soler’s book, “The Edible Front Yard” tackles the institution of the front lawn and challenges readers to rethink that space, showing how a front yard can become a garden that can feed the body and soul. She will share the ins and outs of removing your front yard lawn and replacing it with a well-designed garden full of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

Soler will be selling and signing her book, “The Edible Front Yard:
The Mow-Less, Grow-More Plan for a Beautiful, Bountiful Garden.”
