ENCINITAS — Earlier this month, the city of Encinitas, with Encinitas-based True North Research began conducting a Citizens’ Satisfaction Survey.
Assistant City Manager Richard Phillips described it as a “scientific random survey,” which meant that everyone in the city had the chance of being contacted to take the survey either through the phone or online through a website link and password provided by True North.
The survey began July 9, to which it was to take about a week for data collection, Phillips explained.
The entire process, including processing the data and the producing of reports, is expected to take 30 days.
Phillips anticipates the results being released on the city’s website in August or early September.
Phillips said the survey was “clearly administrative” and instigated by City Manager Gus Vina who’s been with the city since July 2011.
Phillips said the data will also be used to help during the city’s budgeting process, which will begin in August or September.
The last survey of this kind was conducted in July 2007 by Moore Information, Inc. That survey included a sample size of 300 people and the results were released in a presentation to City Council Aug. 22, 2007.
The report showed that 58 percent of those surveyed felt the city was moving in the right direction, 16 percent didn’t know and 26 percent felt the city wasn’t moving in the right direction.
In rating Encinitas as a city to live: 55 percent found it excellent; 37 percent, good; 6 percent, average; 2 percent, below average and 1 percent, poor.
