Realtor group wins Chapter of the Year

CARLSBAD — The CRS, (Council of Residential Specialists) recently awarded its Southern California Chapter as “Chapter of the Year.” Jeff Dowler, a Carlsbad resident and chapter president, accepted the award at the National Association of Realtors Conference and Expo in Anaheim.
This annual award is given to small, medium and large chapters. Competing against 20 other chapters, the Southern California Chapter snagged the large category win.
Championed by Dowler, the CRS recognized this 523-member chapter’s efforts toward offering continuing education and networking opportunities to its realtor members.
Months ago, Dowler’s Southern California Chapter submitted its application for consideration, which cataloged its 2011 networking events, educational programs and other achievements.
“This is a highly coveted award among the CRS Chapters and the applications have to show the chapter provided exceptional value for their membership dues as well as met the four chapter objectives, which encompass membership growth and satisfaction, recruiting and retaining members, promoting the CRS designation, education and referral and networking opportunities at the grassroots level of our organization,” said Rachel Tristano, director of chapter and regional programs with CRS.
The council president picked the final winners.
“It is such a tremendous honor because it is not an easy thing to do,” Dowler said. “It was an amazing experience.”
When Dowler accepted the award, he brought his board members with him because it was a group effort.
Dowler, a realtor with Solutions Real Estate based in Carlsbad, has been affiliated with CRS for the past five years. The experience has opened many educational and networking doors for him and he describes being part of the board of directors as gratifying.
“I am proud to be part of this group and to know we were recognized nationally means a lot,” he said.
CRS, a not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors, was established in 1976.
Tristano said its mission is to recruit and retain realtors in the industry while providing them with ongoing instruction in their industry coupled with relationship and referral opportunities. Currently, it has more than 34,000 members.
