Enthusiasts get their fill at car show

OCEANSIDE — Car enthusiasts checked out electric vehicles on display at Civic Center Plaza and parking structure Sept. 17.
Spectators could check under the hood of a Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, or Smart Car.
There was also a lecture and question-and-answer session with dealership representatives and electric car owners who shared the benefits of owning an electric car.
The main benefit is the low cost of fueling the car. For a 56-cent charge, an electric car can run for 100 miles.
Some San Diego County cities and businesses already have public plug-in sites for electric vehicles. Up to 1,000 more plug-in sites are expected to be added in San Diego County over the next year with support from federal grants targeted at supporting electric vehicles.
