Hanukkah celebration lights giant Menorah

OCEANSIDE — The ceremonial lighting of a giant, 15-foot menorah is to be the highlight of this year’s Hanukkah celebration by the Chabad Jewish Center of Oceanside from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at Oceanside City Hall Plaza. The Menorah will be lit at 2:30 p.m.
This year’s program will feature traditional Hanukkah foods such as latkes and donuts, a huge inflatable obstacle course, art, music, face painting, and Hanukkah cookie coloring.
Join Rabbi Baruch Greenberg and the Oceanside Jewish community as they celebrate the holiday of Hanukkah.
“Hanukkah is a time for rejoicing in the freedom to observe our traditions; this giant menorah proclaims that message to the world,” Greenberg said. “In ancient times our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem with the menorah. Today, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place.”
Hanukkah also sends the universal message that ultimately good will prevail over evil, freedom over oppression and light over darkness.
